The JCISD operates and maintains Camp McGregor in Jackson County. An individual or couple is needed to oversee and maintain the camp, including living on-site. Compensation for this responsibility is negotiable, and adjustments in the essential duties and responsibilities are possible as part of the negotiation process.

Summary: Responsible for the oversight of JCISD’s Camp McGregor and continuous care for the buildings and grounds on camp property. This includes all aspects of scheduling and hosting non-JCISD groups using the Camp facilities. This also includes the maintenance and upkeep of the grounds and all building structures and equipment on camp property.

Education And/Or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Candidates with experience operating the following equipment are desired: riding and push mowers, chainsaw, hedge trimmer, string trimmer, extension ladders, and attaching/detaching snow plow blade.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Michigan driver’s license with good driving record.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before small groups.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Other Skills And Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to be self-motivated and complete duties and responsibilities with minimum supervision.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and use fingers, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to operate motorized equipment. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or push up to 80 lbs. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and continuously will repeat the same hand, arm or finger motion many times as in typing or using a string trimmer. The employee will regularly be required to operate motorized vehicles. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works indoors and outdoors. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, cleansers, and sprays while performing the duties of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud, and is acceptable to this particular environment. Hours of work are dependent upon activities scheduled for camp and are frequently irregular.
